Eden 2.0
Consumerism as a new religion.

The majority of Western society has long since become secularised, and religions and thus their communities and value systems have largely become relics in history books. But which systems have been able to close the gaps in this disappearance? Capitalism and consumption have interacted with the disappearance of belief to manifest themselves as a socially and economically contemporary consensus. Social milieus and our ego concept demand consumer attitudes as a representation of our being - a question of faith. Buying becomes a daily ritual, advertising constructs modern myths, and moral consumption becomes the indulgent trade of the present.
The thematic issue comprises the essayistic confrontations of various authors with the construct of consumerism as a secularized denomination. Photographs take a visual approach to the discourse and irritate with their provocative disharmony of content and aesthetics.
